Hi, my name is Kamar Christopher and I'm just your ordinary car enthusiast. I was born and raised on the beautiful island of St. Croix, USVI and now live in the DMV area. My love for cars first started with a calendar that my parents got me in middle school. That calendar featured a bunch of JDM cars such as an Acura RSX, HKS S13, Honda Civic type S, R34 Skyline, you name it. At that time I wasn’t familiar with all those cars so my curiosity peaked and that of course sent me down the JDM rabbit hole. I got into reading Super Street, Honda Tuner and Import Tuner magazines and learned more about the cars I loved seeing.
The idea of Madd Enthusiast came from my love for seeing unique builds from those magazines. My favorite features would be the unpopular cars that everyone would normally stay away from. The features when the owner just didn’t give a damn and created something one of a kind (e.g. Daniel Wu’s 1968 Honda s800, simple but rare and not your popular 240sx). These were the most memorable to me and largely influenced what I’m doing. I would like to highlight such enthusiasts that add a personalized touch to their vehicles and show their love for the car no matter how popular it is or not.
Something else I desire is to feature more people that look like me. Growing up, I never really saw any representation of me on any of the platforms that I followed but I knew of so many people that lived and breathed this hobby, that are like me. For example, my island has a huge drag scene but no one will ever know about it because it’s not in a place where the magazines and blogs would feature it. So I would love to bring those types of hidden gems to light and feature enthusiasts that look like me as well as show the world our love for motorsports.
In conclusion, my mission is to create a space for these types of enthusiasts to share their works and eventually commune on this shared hobby. At the end of the day, we all love cars and I feel like we should be able to build one big network that is free of hostility and negativity. To bring all the “Madd Enthusiasts together so we can obsess together”(lol).
